What I Made Last Week: Bringing My Mother Back To Life and A School Shooting ‘Storytime’

CoronaVLOG: Not Speaking For 12 Hours!

This week, I mentioned in the vlog that Alex and I didn’t speak for 12 hours, but I never told the story! The reason (from my perspectiveπŸ‘€ ) was that I smashed the sugar bowl by accident when loading the dishwasher, and Alex said “that’s your fault”, which annoyed me because A) obviously and B) he was the one who placed the tray half off the counter so it was 50-50 if anything πŸ˜‚ he did not agree with that synopsis so we went to bed mad. He did make the outreach in the morning though, so he’s the bigger person. Good for him! 🀣

This week’s main video was sponsored by MyHeritage.com, and I got to use all their Premium features, including one called “Deep Nostalgia” which makes old pictures move. As someone who has no video of her Mam from when she was alive, it was a feature that made me tear up. 😍 I also built a lot of my family tree, found out I was related to the local politican and to a friend of mine, isn’t that living in Ireland in a nutshell πŸ˜‚

As someone who’s been trying to learn to dance in 2021, this trend was made for me and my lack of rhythm #ytgirldance

On TRY

First off on TRY, we TRYed California Taffy, which I had very much expected to be candyfloss rather than what it actually was. Nicole, who I paired with, was very excited at the idea that we might be given “Salt water taffy” like Ross from FRIENDS πŸ˜‚

Next up was American House Party Shots, where I rated some of them on the basis that “at least there wasn’t a cigarette in them” because “some house party drinks have cigarettes in them, that’s just a fact of life”. 🀣

Podcast: Storytime With Clisare

Last week, Heidi Tyler came on the podcast to share her story of being a parent of a child who survived a school shooting; the fear on the day, trying to locate her daughter and what they’d done since to try and heal from the experience.

Oh – and don’t forget – I am always looking for new people and new stories! You can DM me on Twitter but the way to ensure I see it is to email storytime@theshift.ie. Include a quick summary of your story and I will be back to you to organise a time to record over Zoom.

So that’s a quick summary of the video content I’ve put out there this week. Of course, I’ve also shared stuff on Instagram stories and tweeted a hape of nonsense on twitter. Find me on your preferred social media at http://clisare.rocks/follow
